25 Ways to Get Your Students Participating in the Big Read Without Teaching
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
Continuing Education Credit for Educators
To receive one unit (15 hours) Utah educators can choose among the many events the Orem Library will be hosting. For each event (most run 90 minutes)the participant must sign the roll and submit a reflective essay detailing insights learned and how this new material will be applied in the classroom setting. To receive one unit you must attend 10 events. A documentary film screening of Ken Burns' Mark Twain may be substituted for two missed sessions. Come to the first session on September 14 and identify yourself as an educator attending the series for credit, fill out a short form, and we will take care of the rest. There is no tuition charge or fees, very little homework, and no required texts to buy. It is our sincere hope you will take what you have learned and use it in your classrooms, and encourage your students to attend the Big Read events. For more information contact Marilee Clark at 229-7247.
